Ceiling Replacement Process & Timeframes
The first step in the process is to remove the old ceiling. As you can imagine this will create significant mess, as the old ceiling will be removed from the room and placed in the skip bin. At this stage the room will have its first clean prior to the new ceiling being installed.
The new ceiling boards are installed by placing glue on the joists and then screwed in placed. All joins are then taped and plastered with a 3 coat plastering system. If the cornices and roses also require replacement, they are also installed. Next day the tradesmen will return to site to sand all joins and cornice mitres and do a final clean. If painting is required, this will be done as well with the electrician also attending to re-install any lights removed in the process.
In general an average size room of 20 square metres will take a day to replace and about 2 hours the next day to sand and paint.
